I was surprised and very happy to see the plaque in the school commemorating my cousin Michael. He was the last of my fathers family to live in Ballintotis. I have happy memories of visiting family there and climbing the castle.

I just want to say how proud I am of my niece Lisa Cooney for her brilliant photo of CJ and the racquets. To have it win the overall photo in Wimbledon was just fantastic. Her prize was just the best ever. A dream come true of Centre Court for the men's singles match and especially this year with Andy Murray playing and winning it. I believe they had a great time and I think she should be getting on her thinking cap for next year's photo.

Out here in Perth earning my living, thrilled to see the millenium picture of my two deceased friends great Canon Bertie and Dick (may they rest in peace). Only Ed and myself left to tell the story. Hey everyone - I 'walked' the 4 miles last Weds week but enjoyed every minute of it !! The atmosphere was indescribable and the whole sense of community made the evening such an enjoyable event!! So thank you and well done to everyone involved !! Aine P.S. - Maybe I might run it next year !!!!! :o)

my son and I ran the race last night, I was asked to run it with him when we registered, which was a great experience. I have attended many road races but none so far could compare to the atmosphere that I experienced last night, it seemed truly a community effort. The route is lovely and we are looking forward to next year already.

Just to say a big thank you for organizing the race last night. I am only just starting running and last night was only my third time doing a road race, so this was all new to me!. I was just reading the blog and it was wondering why the race was such a success- it was because of the fabulous atmosphere there last night and the brilliant welcome we received from the community- well done- the success of the event was well deserved!

There was a great buzz and a real community spirit in Ballintotis for this race. . importantly (as I always think of my stomach) there was a great spread with lots of home baked goodies afterwards ... race of the year so far!!!

It was a fast course alright. However, being a not so serious runner this didn't bother me too much as there was varying level of fitness and plenty at my level. Well done to the organisers, it was a great race along with a wonderful atmosphere ... not to mention the welcome tea and sandwiches afterwards!. Well done to all concerned. Looking forward to next year.

Great race well stewarded and plenty refreshments afterwards. If that wasn't value for money I dont know what was. Very fast course although the roads are narrow it didnt feel too congested.

A beautiful wesite. I lived in Ballintotas and have good memories of Loughaderra lake. Lots of changes sence I left. I now live in Canada. We plan to visit Midleton and area in July.

Hi Jean and all in Ballintotis. My American cousins who visted the church last week and the others who visited last December were very impressed with the church and the lake. Their ancestors (and mine too) got married there on Valentine's Day 1882. It was a romantic setting for weddings even back then!

Just looking at your website and remembered many visits as a child and playing by the lake with Ann Duggan! I'm Elizabeth Rohan's daughter, and cousin to the Cooney's etc. We live in West London, my mum is still going strong and talks fondly of her days in Ballintotis.
